Review of survey questions

Question 1) What do you look for in a good thriller?
The options for this multiple choice question were (a) Gore/blood, (b) Action, (c) Suspense, (d) Storyline or (e) Jump scares.
The option with the highest amount of votes was (c) suspense. This gives an indication of what to build our own thriller around, using different techniques to create suspense for example instead of using fast paced action music we would use a slower paced mysterious type of music to make the audience nervous whilst watching.

Question 2) Out of the list, which film is your favourite thriller?
The options were (a) Jaws, (b) Reservoir Dogs, (c) Speed, (d) Dead again, (e) Psycho and (f) Saw.
The resounding winner of this question was Reservoir Dogs, this is helpful to us as we have analysed a couple of scenes from that particular thriller and have a few ideas of how we could use some themes from that film in our thriller.

Question 3) What types of shots do you think should be in a thriller?
The options were (a) Close up's (b) Extreme close up's, (c) long shots, (d) medium long shots, (e) medium shots or (f) POV shots.
The results for this question ended in a tie between the use of Close ups and POV shots, this helps us more than one resounding shot winning as this gives an idea of what different shots we can use and how we can mix up the shots as opposed to just keeping the entire thriller as a POV shot for example.

Question 4) In a thriller, what type of setting do you find the most intimidating or scary?
the options were (a) a forest, (b) a haunted/Creepy old house, (c) an abandoned warehouse, or (d) an empty school.
Both the settings of a forest and a haunted house were tied in second, this can give us more room to use different locations as we can choose from a number of different settings to film in. the winner was an abandoned warehouse, We have decided to film our thriller in an abandoned warehouse in London, we based our setting on this question as we also believe that it will give the scariest vibe out of all the other possible locations.

Question 5) What makes you want to watch a thriller?
The options were (a) the trailer, (b) the director, (c) the main actor, (d) the storyline.
the Director came in second place, but the winners were joint between the Main actor and the storyline, this gives us alot of help as it tells us that we need to find a good actor for the role, although we are not able to get an A list star as a role for obvious reason, we still have a wide variety of contacts to choose as for our actors. These results also tell us that we need to have a good storyline in our thriller so people enjoy the film as obviously that is important to the audience.
