Time of the day
What was planned for that timeslot
Did everything go as planned?
1:30pm
Arrive and meet at Roie’s house
Yes, everyone turned up on time as our
actor was already there when I arrived.
1:45pm
Test equipment, check the battery
charge, the outdoor lighting and the camera itself.
We had done some filming the night
before to test that the camera was recording; we left the batteries to charge
overnight and tested to see if they had full charge. We also had a spare
battery just in case.
2:20pm
Arrive at the location, and be given
the keys to the building.
Yes, we got to the building around
2:15 where we met the builders who had been working on the warehouse; they
gave us the keys, turned on the power to the building and left us to get on
with our filming.
2:40pm
Block out some of the windows with
wooden boards to make the room darker
After looking for different ways in
which we could block out the light given off by the windows we found a load of spare wooden boards perfect to
fit the windows, we spent about 10 – 15 minutes setting them up, then we
tested to see how dark it know looked.
2:55pm
Set up the lighting equipment in the
right position and test how it looked on camera
It took a few attempts to find the
correct place to but the Redhead light as we wanted to have an interesting
effect of being the only light in the entire building so it had to stand
out a lot.
3:15pm
Film the interior scenes of the
thriller.
We spent about an hour shooting the
scenes inside, we shot from many different angles so we had a greater amount
of shots to choose from whilst editing.
4:15pm
Take a 5 minute break
---------------------------
4:20pm
Film the exterior scenes just outside
the building for an hour.
Yes, we ended up filming for longer
than expected as when we were shooting the scenes we discovered a lot more
interesting shots we could use so we decided to shoot more to have a bigger
selection in editing.
5:50pm
Begin filming the final scenes inside
the building
No, after initially filming the final
scene we thought we were done, we then realised that we had recorded over
some footage from before, we then ended up having to quickly re film some of
the interior scenes again, we managed to do this before it got too dark for
us to the camera to be able to see the actor and ended up making up for our
mistake.
7:00pm
Get something to eat and order a
minicab.
Yes, after packing up our equipment
carefully we then went to get a quick snack whilst ordering a minicab to take
us back to Roie’s house.
7:15pm
Get in the minicab and load the
equipment
Yes, we had booked the minicab earlier
on in the day which enabled us to have ordered it for a specific time to meet
us.
7:55pm
Get back to Roie’s house
Yes we got back at around 8:00pm
8:10pm
Review the footage that we have and
make sure it’s not corrupted.
We looked back on the footage we
recorded to check that it was still there, everything was fine until we
realised we may have to re-film one shot after forgetting to film it as we
were rushing to make up for erasing our previous footage, We still need to
see if we need to re-film and whether or not it needs to be in the building
originally filmed in this will be decided during the editing stage.

You worked hard on this. A shooting schedule is written and distributed before filming. However, it is interesting to read what happened on the day. SG
